Who are we?
The Australian and Pacific College of Clinical Hypnotherapy (APCCH) began its life in Burleigh as the Australian College of Clinical Hypnotherapy (ACCH) officially in January 1996. Margaret Kelly and Tom Johnstone saw the need to train therapists in the modern, practical and effective skills of clinical hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
Tom’s death in 1998 was a blow to all. However, the private college has continued to operate successfully under Margaret’s direction. Such was her dedication to its success; she was able to expand its subjects and lecturers. In keeping with its growth, ACCH was renamed The Australian and Pacific College of Clinical Hypnotherapy.
APCCH is not subsidised by the government. However, it is accredited with the Hypnosis Association of Queensland, HAQ, the Queensland Peak Body that represents the interests of professional Hypnotherapy associations and Educational Organisations across the State. The APCCH was a member of the former Council of Clinical Hypnotherapists (CCH), and is now a Foundation Member of the new Peak Body for the Profession in Australia, the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia (HCA).
The graduates of APCCH are eligible to join the professional associations, such as the Australian Association of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (AACHP Inc).
As Director of the college and President of HAQ, Margaret is also involved in the development and growth of the profession. She served on the board of CCH, the CCH Education Sub-Committee, was previously on CHCA Management Committee, has spent 3 years with the HCA Working Group formulating HCA Constitution, chaired HCA Development Committee, and is now the current President of the new National Peak Body for Australia: Hypnotherapy Council of Australia, (HCA)
