Entry Criteria
A genuine desire to help people overcome problems is a must.
Maturity brings valuable wisdom which is important for any therapist. So the APCCH looks for students who are independent and willing to learn, but also have lots of life experience. While many school leavers may be interested in this hypnotherapy course, it is far better suited to the more 'seasoned' adult.
At the Australian and Pacific College of Clinical Hypnotherapy, our years of experience in teaching hypnotherapy and psychotherapy courses have shown how important it is that students looking to do this hypnotherapy diploma are well grounded in life itself. They may have many years of full-time working experience, or, perhaps, have raised families and survived many of life's adult challenges.
You may be a counsellor, psychologist, doctor, dentist, midwife or natural therapist looking for new tools to add to your current skills. Perhaps you are looking for career change and want to move in a new and exciting direction. Or a mature, retired person still active and searching for mental stimulation and a way to help people. Any and all of these are ideal candidates for the Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.
The APCCH is based on the Gold Coast in South East Queensland. Some of our students are locals, while many travel from surrounding areas like Brisbane, Ipswich, Tweed and Northern Rivers. Some travel from north Queensland or interstate especially to do this course. We pride ourselves on the fact that they leave with a comprehensive list of skills with which to start their career as professional Clinical Hypnotherapists.
Every applicant is considered on their merits.
After an initial discussion with the college on the phone, interested people can make an appointment to discuss the hypnotherapy diploma course and its requirements at an interview. (Please note that there is no government subsidy for this course.)
As a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, graduates usually start to build their practice straight away. Some therapists decide to use clinical hypnotherapy as an additional methodology for their practice. Others come to the profession to specialise in it.
Whatever the choice, it takes time to build a reputation and, indeed, a business. Consequently, many new practitioners start this work part-time, while continuing their existing source of income. Some prefer to keep their practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist as a part-time endeavour. Others build their business to a full time practice, which can be worked around their life circumstances.
Essentially, Clinical Hypnotherapy is a self-employed profession, with flexible hours. The Clinical Hypnotherapist often develops a working relationship with other professionals such as doctors, naturopaths and counsellors.
